OG Stevo continues to dominate Chicago’s melodic hip-hop lane. While his voice is capable of a carrying a song alone, in his most recent release titled “Hustle N Flow,” he was unafraid of laying down a barred out verse, paired beautifully with a soft hook, to showcase his versatility in an explicit manner. With a multifaceted discography, Stevo’s fans are well aware of the fact that he can get in a few different bags. Chicago is a city where the rap scene really started to pop through the dominance of aggressive drill music, and because of that, a lot of artists fall back on the same cadences, the same subject matter, and the same sounds. Being born and raised in Chicago, Stevo addresses similar life experiences in his lyrics, while maintaining a delivery that is completely unique. What made “Hustle N Flow” special was that the beat (Prod. Bobby Beatz) gave Stevo space to touch on a range of different styles, appealing to fans of his rap-heavy songs as well as fans of his softer songs. Given the alley-oop by Bobby, Stevo slams this track home by effortlessly walking down the first half of the beat, taking the listener on a brief tour of his life, ending with a melodic explanation of the success that he is seeing today.
