Sareem – “OK OK” (ft. mynameisntjmack)

Hungry is an understatement when talking about Sareem. He is someone who is willing to get his name on any stage, no matter the size, simply to perform his heart out. Music is a job for Sareem, but more importantly, it has been a much needed crutch at different points in his life. Both at the high points as well as the lows. Whether that be as a fan or as a creative himself, music has always and forever will be apart of his life. Fresh off of his recent album, Sareem, a twenty-five-year-old artist from San Diego, CA returns with “OK OK”, an upbeat hip-hop track featuring none other than former 4GOT10 Magazine Feature (SZN II VOL II) mynameisntjmack. Known for his lyricism and unique delivery, Sareem says this track is all about finding his confidence.

“This whole album, and ‘OK OK’ specifically, is the first time that I have been putting out music while I really feel comfortable in my own skin,” he explains. Knowing that I can get this attitude across and just move forward afterwards. ‘Ok Ok’ is like the epitome of that: A catchy ass banger with some intense lyricism.”

The song perfectly encapsulates Sareem’s current mindset, and the story behind “OK OK” is reflection of his journey in the industry thus far. After meeting Jmack at an Sunday Sounds event two years back, Sareem immediately picked up on their similar tastes. After some internet back and forth, as well as stating to Jmack that he was going to choose a beat specifically for him, Sareem eventually got Jmack on the track. The hook for “OK OK” came to Sareem shortly after his last collaboration with Chuck Inglish. Fueled by frustration, the song expresses his thoughts about not keeping up with his peers and the struggle of balancing his passion for music with the challenges of the industry. From commuting frequently between LA and San Diego to hosting his own shows due to the lack of a local scene, Sareem’s journey has been anything but easy. All of that to say that Sareem is someone to go to any length for the sake of his work, and that is something any creative can admire.

Despite these hurdles, Sareem’s persistence has paid off. He now holds a residency at a local venue in San Diego, where he not only showcases local talent but also hones his own skills. His collaboration with Jmack means a lot to him, both as an artist and as a friend, since they share a mutual respect and chemistry that shines through in their work together.

“OK OK” sets the stage for Sareem’s upcoming album Chasing Ghosts, dropping December 6th. It’s a promising track that shows Sareem’s evolution as an artist, blending catchy melodies with introspection to an extremely intricate degree, and proves that his collaboration with Jmack is just the beginning of what’s to come.
